There are many hotels in the city, but they are not cheap. You can see the list and contacts in the wonderful electric map of the city. Housing for rent is also expensive, but renting an apartment is almost always cheaper than a hotel room. Advertisements for renting housing are usually searched for in the Yugorsky Express newspaper, which is published every Thursday.

So, the city. If you want to explore the city on your own - please, nothing is easier.
Khanty-Mansiysk is a compact and convenient city, the master plan of which was developed by the Dutch architect Erik van Egeraat. The city is located in a ring around the mountain and is divided into two distinct parts - from the southern part of the mountain there is a historical center - the Samarovo district (it is wrong to call it a village), from the northern part of the mountain there is a new city center. There are sights everywhere.
Since first of all all guests want to see the "Archeopark" and the legendary mammoths, the "excursion" on the first day I start from the old part of the city. Of course, driving a car is easy, fast and convenient, but you will most likely move around the city on foot. Therefore, welcome and get started.

The route of the first day.

The first day.

1. The first object is the wonderful Red Dragon Bridge. He is "Yugorsky dragon", he is just a dragon. I would advise you to climb the bridge and walk to its center. Look at the interesting structure, admire the harsh Irtysh River, look at the boats. A very strong wind almost always blows on the bridge, so even in summer a hat will not be superfluous.

2. The second and most important object for the guests of the city is mammoths. Eleven huge sculptures of mammoths descend from the mountain and delight everyone with their views. Mammoths are just one of the sculptural groups of the Khanty-Mansiysk "Archeopark".
Immediately behind the archeopark there is a wonderful asphalt walking path into the forest. The city mountains, covered with conifers, are an integral part of the Samarovskiy Chugas Natural Park. This is a rather interesting forest, a favorite place of the townspeople. There you can see cedars up close, if you're lucky - look at the squirrels.
Right there, near the archaeopark and the entrance to the forest, there are two ice palaces, and behind them is the recreation center, which it makes sense to visit only in winter - "Khvoiny Urman".

Snow scooters, snowboarding, alpine skiing - these are for sports lovers, just the curious can ride the funicular. In 2011, the price per lap was 75 rubles.

If you want to see old residential buildings in Samarovo (and not everyone has it), then you can walk past the restaurant "On the corner".

to our next object - a river port. If not, then a couple of stops on buses 5 or 5a.

3. The river port is the third point of the city travel. It is a very cozy and pleasant place to walk. There is also a bus station in the riverport building - here you can buy tickets and go to the toilet - it's useful. The building of the river station itself is built in the form of a large ship, it is sometimes impossible to understand this up close - but from afar we will see it later.

The embankment stretches for a kilometer, there is where to walk, take pictures with the Assol sculpture, relax on the benches and read about the geographers who left their mark on the development of Siberia.

And meeting and seeing off river ships, if there is extra time, can be very interesting. From the river port we move to the North to the Freedom Square, which is adorned with a temple with an ancient history, but new walls.

Freedom Square is small, on it you can see a fountain, a monument to the founders of the city, a temple and a staircase along which we go uphill, to the observation deck.

4. The stele to the Discoverers of the Yugorskaya land is a large pyramid of glass and metal.

This place makes one of the most vivid impressions on the guests of the city - from the observation deck at the foot of the stele, you can fully see Samarovo. It is from here that it becomes clear that the building of the river port is a ship, from here you can see the old barracks and private houses of the city, here the scale of the Irtysh becomes clear.

After that, you need to go down the steps back to Freedom Square and take any bus up the hill. If you are interested in the biathlon center (it is marked with a green circle on the gif), then you need to get off at the Sportivnaya bus stop. Cross the road at a traffic light and see a fairly recognizable bridge.

The security guard, who sits in the booth, will not let you into the center itself. But you don't need to go to him. To the left of the bridge there will be a hotel complex "On Seven Hills" - here you can walk along its territory to the wooden bridges, from which a rather detailed view of the biathlon center opens. There is not much to do there, so we go further, to the stop "Gagarin". Walk forward five hundred meters and you will find yourself in a unique place.

5. Church of the Resurrection of Christ. Those with no interest in church life will still love this place. The temple has an absolutely beautiful observation deck with terraces, waterfalls and fountains, decorated with the commandments.

From here you can see the entire central part of the city - the university, the Museum of Oil and Gas Geology, a concert hall, an exhibition gallery, a government building and a guest yard, a tennis sports center and much more.
Usually at this point the first day of the "excursion" ends. The guests get tired, want to eat and lie down, digesting the received emotions, ranting on the topic: "if only it were like this in all of Russia ...". The length of the hiking route on the first day is about 11 kilometers.

Second day

I start the second day (or continue the first) - with an inspection of the central square, which is located very close to the temple. Bus stop "Glavpochtamt". It will not be possible to pass the route in a “circle”, so the scheme of moving around the city at first glance may seem very confusing.

The central square in the city is small, but very cozy.

It houses the building of the Government and the Duma of Ugra, the Gostiny Dvor shopping center, from here you can get to the local pedestrian Karl-Marx street - Arbat, Victory Park or the government square. But I advise you not to rush with all this. So, from the main attraction of the fountain-rotunda square, we go to another small square. Cross the Engels (Gagarina) street along the underpass and go straight.

1. Here, on the "cultural patch" you can take a picture with the sculpture "Golden Goddess", see the beautiful fountain "Faberge", which makes an impression even without water,

look at the sculpture of wise owls near the district library and return to the passage. Then walk along the square of the government house to the sculpture “Ugra, many-sided” or “Bronze symbol of Ugra”.

2. We will return to sculpture later, remember it. To the side of the sculpture is the registry office, where you can take a photo with the monument to the newlyweds, from the end of the building in the park of the Museum of Nature and Man (the museum definitely deserves a visit) there is a sculpture "The Hunter and the Bear".

It is extremely inconvenient for photographing, but interesting in its performance. Then I advise you to visit the Museum of Nature and Man.

3. After leaving the museum, it is worth looking at the building of the concert and theater center "Ugra-classic" with some unimaginable architecture.

For lovers of the classics - to the left of the KTC there is a monument to Pushkin and Goncharova, and for lovers of interesting facts - the KTC is an ultra-modern building, but the main pont is the organ, the keys of which are trimmed with mammoth bone. It makes no sense to come close to the building, so we go to the right - to the Losev Park.
The story of why the park is named that way can be read by the excellent photographer and documentary filmmaker of the life of the Ugra padunskiy ... There are several fountains, birches and a gazebo in the park. You can go through it quickly enough and go to the most controversial building in the city - the Chess Academy.

4. The Chess Academy, the House of the People's Artist, the cinema and video center with old cinema equipment located on the street are located on the same patch. Nearby is the Langal cinema, but I don't take guests there - nothing interesting. Therefore, we turn around and move on to Chekhov Street.

5. The University and the Museum of Geology, Oil and Gas are located opposite each other. There is practically nothing to do in the museum, the exposition does not shine, but the building itself is very interesting. Near the museum there is a monument to the "king of oil", the discoverer of Siberian oil, Farman Salmanov. After inspection, we turn around the corner and again find ourselves at the bronze symbol of Ugra.
We cross the road and find ourselves in a small Victory Park.

We go along the red line, we return along the green one.

6. We choose the left path and go past the central square to the "Arbat" - a pedestrian street of Karl Marx, only 700 meters long. The sculptural compositions "Seasons" are of interest here. Along the "Arbat" we reach the composition "The Fire of Sports Glory", we educate ourselves about the sports achievements of Ugra residents and along the green line - from Pionerskaya Street we turn to Dzerzhinsky.

7. Dzerzhinsky Street is notable for the fact that the traffic flows are separated by a long alley with birches and sculptures dedicated to myths, legends, and the religion of the indigenous peoples of the north. Also on this street is the building of the Gorelektrosety, which in winter becomes a tourist attraction in itself.

We walk, admire, and near Victory Park we turn again to the main square of the city. In "Gostiny Dvor" you can eat, go to the toilet, buy souvenirs and, most importantly, from the stop "Glavpochtamt" you can go anywhere in the city. The main part of the excursion is over. The length of the route through the city center is 5 kilometers.

If you are driving, be sure to take a ride on the bypass road around the city, appreciate the interchanges and the quality of the asphalt, visit the Airport, drive around the winter city at night, watch the white nights in June. , look at the campus, the monument to the conquerors of space, the tennis sports center, the bridge with the popular name "Milky Way".

If you have time, you can go for a ride on the river, and also go fishing.
For those interested, the most convenient way to get to the Torum Maa Ethnographic Museum is by taxi, it is not easy to find and there is no parking there.
